that's the best he could do for a video? what's with the flare? does he really take himself that seriously?

Re: Tiesto and the APC40???
What is he actually doing on the APC40? Everything sounds pretty prearranged to me. I may be wrong. Would someone else like to comment?
Re: Tiesto and the APC40???
a part of me envies the guy for being a wildly successful "record player", while the rest of us work our 6 am to 8 pm jobs and make shit for income. but at the same time, i'm not a big fan of his anymore (even though "silence" is still one of the most epic songs i've ever heard!) and i don't know what's worse... being a tarnce DJ or a pop music producer.

Dam this is hard. I mean both are pretty bad. Can you define "worse".
Re: Tiesto and the APC40???
lol.. i would've added a third option that both are equally as bad, but i really want an opinion on one or the other.

Re: Tiesto and the APC40???
This is how I see it. Tarnce music trolls a lot of people. But pop music trolls more in a more scientific, precisely understood physiological manor. Thus, I shall vote for Pop music.
Re: Tiesto and the APC40???
I think that's a stupid comparison. You don't have to like pop music to appreciate the production that goes into it, especially taking a nominally to zero talent vocalist and making them sound like gold. There really is no defense of Trance DJs, especially when you compare them to DJs of other genres.McQ714 wrote:and i don't know what's worse... being a tarnce DJ or a pop music producer.
As far as "what is Tiesto doing?", I have yet to see a video of him doing anything or tweaking knobs or faders that is actually having a noticeable effect on the music. It's simply astonishing that him and his handlers let anybody with a camera get within 50 feet of him "performing".

Re: Tiesto and the APC40???
I'd prefer beeing a pop producer, there IS some good pop music, isn't it??
and between the 2, I doubt that a tarnce DJ will really get so much $$$. Pop music is played everywhere, so the copyrights are $$$ paying!
cheers
edit :
and, "DJ" sucks. "PRODUCER" is the king. (so why every dj on earth feels like he HAS to be also a "producer" to appear more serious/pro/musician?)
edit 2 : frak, there was a trap in this poll, I voted for "producer", but in fact the question is "what's worse?".... well, who does matter about this poll anyway

Re: Tiesto and the APC40???
I totally agree here beats. Of course the production is amazing. Those guys are just doing a job. There are like highly trained military soldiers. They don't question the politics. They just go in there and do what there told.beats me wrote:McQ714 wrote:You don't have to like pop music to appreciate the production that goes into it
Re: Tiesto and the APC40???
I think a producer of anything successful deserves some respect and reacting to an entire genre like a 5-year-old being force fed broccoli is extremely narrow-minded. I don't like Trance for the most part but have found a workaround by just convincing myself that the Trance tracks I do like are actually Progressive House.
I respect some successful DJs but not near the level of successful producers. Without successful producers DJs would be nothing and that doesn't work in reverse.
