wow the new Autechre rules

Post by synnack » Sat Feb 20, 2010 6:12 am

Wow. "Oversteps" rules. This is the record from them people have been waiting for. Lots of old style Autechre but updated.

http://www.autechre.ws/

It has lots of beats. Some mangled as you'd expect but several almost normal and consistent ones. Lots of arpeggiators. and even *gasp* melody.

I"m really happy with it so far.

I guess you're listening to mp3's ?

Unless I haven't spotted the previews on their website, myspace or bleep ?

I preordered it, but managed to get a copy of it already from a distributor I work with. (I own my own label).

The mp3s are up illegally in a few places but there are also several fake "leaks" up.

Ah yesh, I shee.

Looking forward to this one.

Regarding distribution they've hit the nail on the head by offering a WAV download along with the vinyl. I wish all the vinyls I bought came the same way, or even came with 'free' or hugely discounted cd versions for digital shenanigans. I digitize my vinyl purchases but it's time consuming etc.

Really looking forward to this record and have also preordered it. +1 on the idea of giving away WAVs (or at the very least mp3) with vinyl. If Subpop can everyone can.

looking forward to this one ... Autechre blew my young mind when I seen them live one evening in Glasgow around the time of the Incunabula album ... It was a sit down Sunday evening chill out club, and most folks would be coming down from the chemical consumption from the night before (helped along of course by copious amounts of smoke) ...

It has been a love/hate relationship ever since ...

I bought it an hour ago at bleep.com, i quite like it. The sound design is very futuristic as usual, but not as straining as in some of the former releases. This time they even deliver some audio beauties. Maybe they have become a little mellowed in the last years. It's a good album...

Excellent. I didn't realise the mp3's and wav's were available yet. Downloading now.
Saves me digitising the vinyl when it arrives.

I think this is definitely the way forward for distribution.
