anybody got ableton "certified" ? is it useful?
Not that i need to learn the program since i've used it from version 1 but i would like to be
able to teach and/or give courses, private and in institutions or whenever there's and opportunity.
Has anybody got a certification and if so was it worth it/useful?as far as getting paying jobs?

You don't need the certification to teach, you just can't tell people you're Abelton certified.

For one thing, you get a copy of OIC at no charge.rekloos wrote: Has anybody got a certification and if so was it worth it/useful?as far as getting paying jobs?

It's like $2000-3000 or something for the certification course if I remember correctly, so I'm not sure I would say "at no charge".

What exactly is OIC?
I'm aware of the fact that you can take online course like these: http://www.abletoncourses.com/
which are pretty affordable or go the BerkleeMusic route which is a lot more and also goes beyond
getting Live certified.
Has anybody taking any of these courses and got certified? Was it worth it, from a financial point of
view?
or give me your input why i should/should not go any of these routes.....

im not sure on the whole will the certificate land you a job easier part of it all and pay, but the only thing ive seen people talk about the course is that its pointless and they didnt learn anything really from it. Ive even thought about it but then after reading more on it and when all of that was brought up, decided not to. But im pretty sure if you can find a place of hire, a certificate in anything (AA, BA etc) will increase you chances and will make your resume look a lot better.

Like i've said, i know just about everything there is to know [except for operator which i don't have]
about live and i can easily teach from beginners to advanced courses - i'm just looking for input from other ppl who've gotten certified and how it has been beneficial or not.

Re: anybody got ableton "certified" ? is it useful?
I got certified last year and it was one of the best things I did . I have tons of students and workshops every month, not to mention the contacts and networking of other Ableton teachers and trainers across the globe. It really depends on how far you wanna take it . I ran with mine.

One of the best decisions I ever made. Also an expensive decision.

Re: anybody got ableton "certified" ? is it useful?
Gots me a cert. The whole process was a fun time- A whole weekend where like 5 other ableton & music gurus got together and shared knowledge. A few people around my way boast that they have it, advertise and stuff, was kinda annoying cause i know i knew more about ableton and production in general, but they got the certificate, just a piece of paper though, but they win...
Re: anybody got ableton "certified" ? is it useful?
its all about the money. depends what you do with it...
I don't know that I would be able to charge someone that with a straight face. Learning cool tricks is cool. With a cert you can charge more upfront but experience is experience. Being self taught and capable is a cool feat though. With computers, its what you know, now.
if getting a cert will help you learn and you use it to make decent money then you win. if you don't use it... then the school wins. Odds are on the house...
