hello everyone !
i think a great idea would be to add a "freeze" (with a better name, actually) function for the midi tracks.
Indeed, when we have a project with a lot of midi tracks, and heavy VSTs, the computer may be too slow to play correctly.
We could easily improve it by adding a little function on each midi track which would save the current state of the midi track and replace it by a wavefile. The user wouldn't be able to change a note or anything in the track, but everything would run faster. Of course, we could go back to the "normal" midi state afterwards.
I don't know if i'm clear enough, but I think this is a usefull function (and very easy to implement in Live). Actually I DO need it, quite all the time, and it's very painful tu work with a laggy Live.
what do you think ??
regards,
Bruno

Re: "Midi Freeze" function
This function is already available.
Just right-click the track, and select "Freeze Track". Can be applied to both MIDI and audio tracks.

Re: "Midi Freeze" function
after freeze, you got flatten track>>> it put the resulting wav files in place of the freezed clips.
indeed it's already there rtfm like they say lol
what would be really cool, the ability to freeze routed tracks
When you got a kick sidechained for effecting a compressor on a bassline_ both midi tracks can't be frozen_
I would be really great to keep the resulting audio for both tracks_
Aimed to freeze related tracks_ you have some routing, as long as tracks are linked together in a way [sidechain or audio/midi routing], you can freeze them
