the user manual says:

so ...
you can use the channel strips as seperate MONO INs + the master output as a STEREO IN.
the OUTPUTS of the interface go to: the 2 Channel strip INs, and the 4 Stereo INs for the A, B, C, D Line Channels.
I guess the firewire solution works the same way, but i am not sure.

I bought the 2x4 ones. Tables fit on top perfectly and I'm putting vinyl in them. I've been tempted to buy the 5x5 one for in my living room. Really, the only divider I removed was the one in the middle so I could fit the turntable. Those are empty boxes on top of it. The vinyl are all stored on the lower bins. And of course it helps to bolt it down to the wall. Very sturdy those Ikea Expedit shelves are!
Also, how do you like that desk? Have you ever had to move it? Do you know if it comes apart easily and reassembles well? I've wanted that desk for a while but I don't have a permanent area for my stuff yet. It doesn't look like it would fit through a standard door easily, so unless it comes apart and reassembles easily, I won't be getting it for a while.
The desk is a Studio RTA Producer Station. Best bang for the buck studio desk imo. Comes unassembled so you can assemble it in your room. Took me less than an hour.
