By George I think you've done it man!!! What was the problem? It works an absolute treat!!
Re: Clip Mapper (0.9.8) [Added Video]
It was a rather silly and obvious mistake. (obvious once i found it...)concrete_cow wrote:By George I think you've done it man!!! What was the problem? It works an absolute treat!!
For some reason, the message that updates the value display and the dial, was sent to the live.remote too.
I simply added another scale object and bob's your uncle.
I'm gonna sleep like a baby tonight...

It's still working and I can't believe how amazing this is now!
Thanks so much for the time you've spent on this Bjorn
I'm planning on tearing it up with confidence now next weekend!!!

Goodie
I hope Darren fairs well with this this too. But I'm confident now I fixed the right thing.
I'll go over the thread and check for any loose ends. 1.0 will hopefully be wrapped up by the weekend.

- Fixed value display I broke in 0.9.9.1
- Enabling Learn Mode now clears all current parameters. If you want to add to an existing clip, trigger it while in Learn mode.

Darren, tried to break this thing for at least 3 hours last night. I hope it works for you as well as it has for me...
Now just need to work out how to create a patch that sends midi notes and cc's to control VSTs, should be fairly simple!

Is it fair to say to save the settings into the patch i have to drag it to the browser? I've been simply saving the live set and then i lose my settings?

I never need to drag the patch to the browser, or click the save button on the clip mapper to keep the settings. Not sure what the problem you're having is... The clip mapper settings for me get saved with the set. All I do is follow the procedure to map the devices :S4racen wrote:Is it fair to say to save the settings into the patch i have to drag it to the browser? - enter learn mode
- launch clip to map settigs to
- select knobs/buttons and create device mappings
- click 'save to clip'
- exit learn mode
That's it really... then saving set ensures it comes back exactly as it was
Are you following the same procedure?
Re: Clip Mapper (0.9.8) [Added Video]
Yeah. What Sunil said. Its designed so you shouldn't have to worry about that stuff.

Re: Clip Mapper (0.9.8) [Added Video]
stupid question from a not even yet owner of m4l: would it be possible to have the clip manager working with clips that I'm about recording live in opposition to clips that are already loaded into session view?

Aaaaaah it was a problem with my patch not saving which clips to fire and not the clip mapper not saving the settings!

Its based on clip positions. So you could even assign parameters to an empty slot.laurentius wrote:stupid question from a not even yet owner of m4l: would it be possible to have the clip manager working with clips that I'm about recording live in opposition to clips that are already loaded into session view?

Re: Clip Mapper (0.9.8) [Added Video]
DOH!
It seems that when using clip Mapper to control various devices, the device automation doesn't save in the arrangement. Just came across this yesterday (must have had my head buried in the sand lol!!!)
From what I can tell, the 'clip mapper knob' automation and the clips that are launched which link to clip mapper are recorded in the arrangement. But, no mapped device changes are automated - DOH! Therefore, I guess it's safe to say that you can only record automation for devices that are in focus on clip mapper, therefore only clip mapper mapped controls can be recorded at any given time - no multiple pass automations using multiple device mappings are possible. Does this sound right?
Anyone know if Ableton are looking to fix/improve this situation? It's probably quite a tricky problem, given that midi and API calls could conflict, etc.
I'll revert to my old midi ways for multiple pass mixdowns and such, but i'm still aiming to use clip mapper when playing out live
