Simlpe question about follow actions...

Post by Swordfish » Wed Mar 24, 2010 12:26 pm

Hi
Im just working out a set made of chopping up my own tracks.
I have chopped the intro into a separate clip to the beats + bass - Id like the beats to play automatically after the intro part (but still have the flexibility of retriggering the beats again)

Is there a simple way for clips to automatically play the next clip down after they have reached their end? I understand the 'next' follow action, but I have to specify the total length of time for the intro clip and its not always simple. I thought there might be a default for playing the next clip down instead of just stopping.

Thanks

Sorry, you're out of luck on that one. This has been a requested feature for a looooong time.

There don't seem to be any workarounds that work properly, however with Max4Live this is achievable (although i'm sure that's not the answer you were hoping for)

Oh well - now I know I wont search the manual in vain.
Stupid omission - it makes perfect sense to me!

Thanks

Total and utter perfect sense to me as well, complete ommission on ABe's part that truly restricts it given the grid style controllers now widely available... Maybe Live 9???

People have been requesting this for over 2 years. Please add your voice to the chorus requesting this feature here:

Thanks!

One refinement I'd also like to see implemented would be a time variant added. Then there could be a length of time before the follow action is executed.

For example:
End + an empty field where a time can be entered:
End + 1 minute
End + 30 seconds
etc.

This time field could be represented as 00:00:00 for hours, minutes, seconds.

This would be cool for unwarped clips....

Exactly. With a few seemingly minor adjustments, Live could be the most wonderful generative music tool.

Live has a handful of features that only work with warped &/or looped clips. If these features were made available to unwarped/non-looping clips we'd have a beast of an application!
