When is 8.1.2 coming out????????

I'm in LA getting ready for a show with Curt Smith from Tears For Fears...

The plan is to do a looped cello version of Mad World....and I would love to use Live 8 for this....but 8.1.1 keeps crashing on me when I trigger record using midi dummy clips. (it happens only 40% of the time I'm guessing, but that's a little too unstable for me to bring onstage...see all my previous posts regarding humiliating stage failures because of this problem)

I thought for sure 8.1.2 would be out by now.

BOY AM I DISAPPOINTED.

Welcome to Ableton 8!

It is extremely upsetting to me, that for the last 6 months instead of creating good music, I have first spent $800 on Ableton Suite, then I spent hours upon hours troubleshooting the software, my computer, all my hardware, bought a new Audio Interface to test and the list goes on.

I just hope it comes out soon. The current beta expires on the same night as one of my biggest shows to date, making me a little nervous.

had the show last night.

I didn't dare do any on-the-fly recording in Live 8 with Curt on "Mad World". So I just used Live as a host and did the live looping in SooperLooper (which is what I've been trying to do for the most part since Live 8 became too risky to use onstage). That went great.

However, I did do on-the-fly recording in Live 8 in a two songs during my own set (hard not to on those particular songs, they're too complex to only use SooperLooper)....and yes, Live crashed during a midi-triggered record operation in the middle of a song. The audience stuck with me though and I said I would do the song again and would they please cross their fingers in the middle? They must have been crossing their fingers, because it didn't crash the second time.

I went through my email logs and see that I first reported this problem to support@ableton in July 2009...and again in October 2009... and November 2009...and January 2009. I'm assuming/hoping this will be in the current round of bug fixing...but I don't know if it is, which is why I feel forced to bring it up publicly on the forum...although I expect Ableton is hating me for being a pest

Are you kidding me? You deserve every minute of attention and looks like you have gotten none. Being a pest? Are you kidding me? You have paid top dollar for SOFTWARE, a non tangible item which is buggy and after reporting it to support a few times, you have gotten no answers, responses etc.

Please check my thread and keep being persistent in this quest to get our end-user issues resolved. We deserve every bit of it.

Don't get me wrong, Ableton knows about my problems and has responded.. I just don't know if this midi-triggered recording problem is on their fixing agenda, and if it is, when its coming.

^ hopefully soon... its been a while since the QA announcement. I'm not performing with Live but would definitely like it to stop crashing when I'm recording, which in all fairness isn't too often, but more than it should be. On the other hand, it crashes and hangs my PC when I close it lately more often than not. During a shut down this is not sooo bad, but when I want to switch apps or re-wire this means I have to reboot. Its a real mood killer when capturing ideas on the fly with people I may or may not get a chance to record with again. It has a way of wrapping up the session prematurely that is, in a word, lame.

Congrats on your show and 3 cheers for endearing audiences!!!

can you get them to sling you a Live 7 license so that you can at least use a stable version?

My whole set is prepped in 8.1 or newer, so I can't even open it in Live 7.

Way too much work to recreate. I would have ignored the beta's, but the last few have fixed some real issues I was having, so I'm sort of stuck now.

this is why I've avoided them.... I've spent a long time beta and alpha testing it, so the risk of not opening projects while waiting for new betas etc is not appealing....

the biggest problems seemed to appear around the same time as M4L for me
