I don't see what the big deal is? Looks like a REALLY basic Roland synth, not much different from the Juno.

yea, the only way roland is getting any cash outta me for new products is if they recreate the ba662 and ir3109 and implement it into some new idea.

yeah I won't ever get why the company that made so much classics can't remake them

don't you think they could sell 909 and 808 and sh101? they OWN the thing... why not???? WHY?

Is it just me or is every synth that's come out in the last 2 or 3 years look ugly as sin?

I don't get it, it's like they are shooting for something between 'back to the future' and something you'd see at target.

Nords and Virus' looked awesome, Korg ms2000. Those are cool looking, what is with the new stuff?

Well for one analog stuff is expensive as hell, these digital pieces of crap cost next to nothing to make. Digital machines can have more features that sound sexy in a magazine to the uneducated consuer. If you aren't already a synth junkie you probably would think the feature set of a digital synth with delays and sequencer and so on are way sexier than the feature set of an original sh-101. And real synth junkies are a tiny percentage of the market. A good portion of business is just some random dude at guitar center who wants to try techno, then sells it on craigslist 2 months later. So feature sets and how special they look rule the market.

If Roland remade the 303 it would sell like hot cakes, just fly off the shelves. Even at $1000 each, people would eat that crap up. Not saying it's what they should do, but people would definitely buy it.

This looks kinda cool. For some reason, it's appealing to me WAY more than the SH-201, which I found to be completely awful. In the video, I can really hear a cheap plastic feel to the keyboard. That part isn't sounding so hot to me. I'd consider it if has a plug-in/software editor.

Roland are shit these days. I know it's a cliche but it's the truth. IF i found this machine in an old dumpster it would go straight onto ebay. I wouldn't even want to plug it in to listen or play. The same can't be said about their xox lines or other analogue stuff. That stuff had passion and incredible forward thinking designs.
