Musicians - What is this Chord???

F, g, ab (a flat), db (d flat).

Trying to work it out, its like a minor 7th, without the c, and with the g added.
What would the name for this chord be?

Wait a sec. Don't you need whether we're in a major or minor key? It's 3 flats, so it's either E flat major or C minor key. So doesn't it depend on what's the tonic (ie the I chord) being used?

Semi OT: Been going through a lot of cords, and came to the conclusion that a chord has zero meaning to me, if not in context with others. I also find scales more interesting if there are more then one in a song.

Id love to get some tips on scale progressions btw.

Its 2 flats - a and e. Definitely minor because of the a flat.
Just without the 7th note - and the 2nd note added.
F is the root. At least I presume so, as its what my left hand naturally goes towards and sounds best playing.

Fair point, Ill sort a midi file out now, with the chord in context.

If you have Logic you can just press those notes on your controller and it tells you exactly what chord it is at the bottom by default.

If it's in the key of E flat major, then it's A flat Major 7, add 6 (the F). This is the IV chord in that key.

If in C minor key, still A flat Major 7, add 6, but represents the VI chord in that key.

No, it is AT LEAST 3 flats. You can't have A flat unless you also have E flat and B flat. Please review your music theory.

Sorry, I wasn't considering all of the notes of the scale, only the notes utilized/played in that chord at the time.
No need to be arsey though, seeing as I was actually ASKING for musical theory aid.
