Messing with OSX folders

I like organizing my vsti in different groups. A folder for synths, a folder for samplers and romplers, a folder for effects…etc.
The question is: Is it ok to go into OSX's library/audio/plugins, and mess around with the Audio Unit folders to do the same. I tried moving some stuff before and It didn't work properly…like some instruments disappeared.
How can you tweak this thing?

Why do you need to move the things around if they're already organized?
