OT: Cycling ... as in... riding bikes... as in... bicycles
Re: OT: Cycling ... as in... riding bikes... as in... bicycles
I'm digging the pink tape at the moment. I know eventually I'll get tired of it and get something else.
All in all it was a bit less than $500. Keeping in mind that I already had some of the parts, plus I built it up at home, so that saved me some cash that would've gone towards labor.
Otherwise, it would've probably cost up to $600

Picked one of these up a few months back, SE Racing/DC Shoes collab on the PK Ripper fixed gear:
I upgraded the seat (that hard plastic 80's style bmx seat just wasn't cutting it), but otherwise I love my bike, ride it almost every day.

I dig it. It does have a BMX-ish look to it. Looks like it's good for tricks. You do any crazy tricks on it?

I grew up riding BMX back in the day (“Rad” was my all-time fav movie as a kid), and after 2 bike-induced concussions I put the tricks off to the side. These days I’m just riding because I prefer it over being on the treadmill for cardio purposes, although admittedly I’m working on my trackstands and being able to ride backwards.

I LOVED Rad. I actually watched it again after YEARS about two months ago. SO cheesy, it's just great.ill-legal? wrote:I grew up riding BMX back in the day (“Rad” was my all-time fav movie as a kid), and after 2 bike-induced concussions I put the tricks off to the side. I'm still working on my trackstands as well. They will come in handy when I'm able to hold them, so as to not have to unclip when I get to an intersection and need to stop.
EDIT: Jesus, my grammar is just off today

why not go all the way and attach the handlebars directly to the front axle?

I have this baby
And I love it. Perfect for city use. A wee too heavy but great for an urban workout.

Re: OT: Cycling ... as in... riding bikes... as in... bicycles
thats purty
man i cracked my frame on my Gary Fisher and i do not have the receipt
so i offered all my component plus advertising on my pedicab as a trade
to a local shop for a bike.. its a go but its been two weeks and no bike
which suuuuucks
i don't own a car.. i've hardly ever owned a car lol
i need a bike
grrrr
i've spent like $40 bucks in gas because i have been using my girlies car
grrrr lol
but any day now i should have a bike pic to post up
i have no idea what i will be getting so its kind of exciting
i'm really hoping its a $400-$600 value
edit..
well that bike shop owner had some real communications issues because weeks went by and he still had not found me a bike.. even though their where two bikes on the floor that where my size and in the $300-$400 price range
he was looking for a cheap frame and going to basically give me a cheap bike for about $700 worth of advertising and $200 worth of components..
what a waste of time..
i do have a 70's 63cm motobecane mirage frame that i picked up from a friend
and i have managed to scrounge up a 27" wheel set..
i have almost all the components i need now too..
so i think i will head of to yellow bike project and slap this baby together...
man i was so close to going fixie because it would be cheap and easy but their are just way to many hills i have to deal with on my normal commute..
i'll get some pics up soon

yeah!
i got myself a racingcycle yesterday. found it used at a local calassifieds add. champanolo matrix group, 3*9 gears (i like riding up and down the eifel) and it rolls so good! and it's so light. i had a mountainbike before and now a treckingbike (28' atb) too but this is a completly different world of cycledom. i did not know that the streets around here are so crackled and so many holes, 8.5 bar/120 psi is so hard.
can't wait to take a nice tour!

Giro d'Italia started in Amsterdam this time. Saw them riding by only a few miles from where I live.
Fascinating to see it in real life.

Recently saw a recap of the track cycling world championships. Pretty hot stuff. Those guys FLY down that track. Also saw a pretty nasty crash in the women's category:

On another note, I've been down with the flu for the past 5 days, so haven't been able to go for any rides
