ok, made huge progress these last few days, and discovered nice compression tricks. BUT im still stuck with my initial verse/chorus problem.
bass is now the main problem
one of the most prominent element in the arrangement is a fattish arp odyssey bass playing throughout the song, and when i crossfade from a compressor setting to another from verse to chorus, the bass's level changes noticeably. losing balance...
any tips?
i analysed some nirvana recordings, which is not the style i make except that it has smooth verses / agressive chorus structure, and the levels are even throughout the song. whats the trick?????
but really im about to say fuck it and to leave the verses as they are, which is roughly 3 db quieter than the choruses, that will be my way of being grunge/diy
