Hey guys,

I know some of you had real issues with live 7 on windows 7..

how does live 8 run?

Any significant difference than previous versions of windows?

Cheers!

At the risk of jinxing myself, aside from a single crash due to Waldorf's filter plugin (which was fixed by downloading the latest version of the plugin) Ableton has been rock-solid for me under Windows 7. To be fair, Vista too was very stable for me with the later service packs, but I definitely wouldn't go back.

Vista Ultimate 32 SP2 works fine for me, will not be upgrading just yet because I can't afford the upgrade but also it would require a whole installation from scratch, no loading over Vista - this has advantages in giving you a clean system but is a pain. Also, will wait for better DAW and plugin compatibility under 64 bit versions before making the move.

TBH win 7 uses almost all the same drivers as Vista, and it depends on driver support for all your devices as well - Most vendors now have some type of win 7 drivers, but they are not mature in a lot of cases, some are just out of beta, etc. Of course, eventually win 7 will be a better platform universally, with better memory handling and multiple core utilization among other positives and eventually 64 bit. Some people will already have that ideal combination of hardware components, drivers and such already that the new o/s will be performing noticeably better.
