Critique?
Critique?
Hi all,
I'm a logic user and have recently moved over to Ableton for its session view (and the APC40). I like the idea of "performing" recordings, and the linear nature of Logic was just a bit too confining to me. I'm slowly learning Live 8 Suite, and already love a lot of the features it has and the ease of use in session view. The controller helps for sure.
Anyway, I was hoping some of the more seasoned composers/arrangers could possibly spend a little bit of time and critique a couple of tunes I created. The songs are two separate remixes of the same song that I did for a contest on Indaba. One is club, the other is minimal.
I have only been physically doing this for about 9 months, although I've been studying the concepts for a couple of years. I guess I am just looking for a good gauge of where I am sitting after this amount of time from folks who are much more experienced than I am in this area of music. I'm a classical pianist and have studied for a long time under some pretty reputable teachers in the academic realm, so feel free to be as critical as you must to help me be better! I have a tough skin!
Thanks in advance!

Re: Critique?
The minimal piece needs more top end / louder hats.
Also, i would put a bit more work into the drums as they aren't really hitting the right spot. try adding some more elements. Check Timothy Allens drums tutorial perhaps. .

I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

i was quick, downloaded it, damn can you guys not tag tracks properly?
what the hell is so difficult about it? he?
i don't have time to listen now, i certainly would like to give some feed back, do you think in a download inbox where a week roughly 30-80 tracks arrive i know the hell already tomorrow who to get back to?
/end rant/

ah dont be so uptight, who ever goes there.
An occasional post on here breaks up the monotony of some of the other posts I reckon.

Re: Critique?
Yup definately needs more top end on the minimal mix.
