T.V.

Post by LoopStationZebra » Fri Jun 11, 2010 4:56 pm

The Lost thread was kind of a dumping ground to talk about other shows. Now that the show is done, hows abouts a new thread for that pillar of culture: TV!

Justified
Brilliant season finale, and a brilliant show. I love that Marshal Raylan Givens is a bit of a fuck up and not some super bad ass who never makes mistakes.

You Don't Know Jack
This HBO movie about Jack Kevorkian was fantastic. Al Pacino as the Good Doctor? I'm hard pressed to think of a more brilliant and riveting performance in quite some time. Holy Shit. He was utterly lost in that character. I literally had to keep reminding myself that I was watching Pacino. That's hard to do with such an iconic actor. Worth tracking down on DVD if you haven't seen it...

Stargate Universe.
There's nothing that fucking happens on this show, but that doesn't keep me from tuning in every week. I can't explain it. The thing moves at a snail's pace, but....but..... *shrug* Maybe I like it because there's not some hocus pocus fairytale shit going on to explain our lives and the universe? Prolly.

Burn Notice
Don't know that this show has ever up in discussion, but I fucking LOVE IT. I didn't watch it for the first season because it looked like ASS. Wrong. Plus, seeing Ash week after week? Win.

The Tudors
The series is almost over. It was great. The new Queen is a total MILF so......Win.

I've saved the best for last, and it ain't even out yet......

The Walking Dead
Fuck all of you right now, because this 6 part show about Zombies on the AMC channel is GOING TO FUCKING ROCK MY COCK.

Frank Darabont (you know, Shawshank Redemption, The Mist, etc etc) created this show, based on the graphic novel series (of which I've read the first book).

Frank. Fucking. Darabont.

Not some pimply faced hack asswipe who's last show - about a hot chick turned spy or a group of glee club singers or rich kids and their problems - no one can remember. Nay. This is talent at the helm.

Is there anything cooler than zombies? I think not.
I came for the

Dum's You Ignorant Apathetic Fuck: Every Last One of You, Except the Irish

Don't know if I'll catch it but should be interesting, if not excessively one sided.

Walking Dead rocks!

Oh and as far as TV goes, I don't have it anymore. Netflix has taken over.

Is there any other royal lineage on this planet that has lasted as long and continues to this day like the English?

It reminds me of that Xerox (or maybe it's Fedex) commercial where a bunch of business people are sitting around a table and told they can't go home until they figure out how to cut mass cost. If I was the English I know where I would be looking.

Royal costs slashed in yesterdays budget. In terms of overall expenditure, its peanuts anyway.

As for the TV shows...none of those thigns rock my boat at all anymore...i just can't sit through five minuts of the scripts that of the US anymore. They way they pander to the lowest commnon denominator by getting characters to repeat important things in the script just in case you don't 'get it'.

'Oh theres the guy we saw yesterday doing the bad thing'
'You mean the guy we saw yesterday doing the bad thing?'
'Yes, thats what I mean, the guy we saw yesterday, you remember'

etc.

Brit telly is even worse.

I watch films, half of which I get through, the rest. meh.

actually there's not much to work with in this thread, americans are obese and worship TV... nothing new here. I need more devotion, more gormless adulation etc before I take the time to highlight you as the classless culture-toilets you are.

so make with the 'zomfg i love tv' posts and I'll be back in a few pages.

TV is for morons, and consequently quite popular.
