Max4Live - APC40...... Featured on createdigitalmusic.com

Post by S4racen » Sat Jun 05, 2010 2:48 am

Hi All,

I've spent nearly a year building the template i'm currently using, first with the excellent Bomes and now with Max4Live. The Bomes template i've made available to everyone who purchases bomes using the link on my blog the studiosessions.co.uk whilst the Max4live template shown in the video is available through a paypal payment of just £14.99....

The template comes with Isotonik 5.2, a full set up and instruction manual and lifetime upgrades......

Anyone who's used the Isotonik patch from max4live.com (currently sitting as the most downloaded by some way) will appreciate the new slim line approach allowing up to 6 tracks to be fully controlled (on a macbook pro 13") with up to 8 tracks depending on your processor speed....

New features include Sm4rt control and integration of my Gl1tch patch, all fully controllable from the APC40....

As many before me have put their stuff up for sale, i'm thinking the time has come to actually put a price on the time i've put into this thing. If you don't agree version 4 of the device will always be available on max4live.com for you to build your own template around. I'm thinking based on the feedback i've had many would prefer a simple out of the box solution without having to spend months on the learning curve required to get into max.....

Feedback as ever is greatly appreciated, those on the mailing list will be getting a manual sent to them and i'm more than happy to send it out to anyone who asks for it prior to purchase (it's a pdf file so simply pm me your email address)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNBe0hkPQy8

Those of you who have already donated will of course be getting a copy shortly as soon as i've gone through my receipts on paypal!!

Cheers
D

That looks amazing Darren but i have to say I haven't a clue what was going on there. It comes with a manual which I'd hope expalins the lot because it does seem very powerful. Nice UI too. I'd spring for it only I haven't stretched for m4l yet.

Things i've learnt in the last couple of days getting this set up on other systems....

You need to be running Live 8.1.3 at a minimum along with Max4Live 5.1.4 if your not or even using a crack then please do not have any interest in the device, i'm no expert in the different operating systems so if you can't have the back up of Ableton's support i can't do that for you.....

Just uploaded the Isotonik 5.5 template, now slimmer than ever and less CPU hungry, it's still a bit of a beast but i'm running it without glitches on 4 tracks including using the Sm4rt control....

For quick and easy set up, once you have loaded each device return to the master device and click the isotonik title and it will perform a master reset, resetting the individual tracks and then working through the individual parameters across all 8 tracks, once finished you're ready to go!!

Looks very cool... wish I understood 10% of it!

How about a video camera on the apc up in the corner, like the native kontrol videos? A lot easier to guess whats going on then..

I got tons of questions, so ill download and read the manual first, if I may!

One question though: is this only for wave clips, or can you run midi clips too?

The challenge i have with the recording of the APC is syncing the video up so it makes sense, i have lots more videos of the device in development at my vimeo channel www.vimeo.com/studiosessions

pm me your email and i'll send the manual over, further details on my blog by clicking the banner below....

Hi all,

A number of different templates available now, three and four up to six trackers....

For windows users there are versions without the looper functionality as this presents the largest drain on RAM and needs an external within the max device to work that takes up some considerable space....

Version 5.7 now uploading to the dropbox...

Streamlined initialisation process now possible, full instructions in the dropbox....

Bug Fixes.....

Scene Launch Buttons now operate correctly including the stop all clips button not stopping all clips unless in scene one

Blue hand now correctly navigates to the isotonik device when using the track select buttons, using the mouse to select tracks presents problems currently as the track_number in the device will be out of sync, i'll try and work this out in future editions…

The Slicer scene could get stuck on when first initialising, this is now solved when you do a master reset which if you've followed the instructions above you've done before you started playing!!

Brake, didn't brake on the slave device it just stopped so is now fixed….

Changed the scene launch button controls on scene four as these were a duplicate of what the clip stop buttons did…

When there is no alternative functionality the cue volume knob controls the cue volume as is the default behaviour, this is currently subject to jumps when not using value scaling as your pickup method...

Thanks to Troy for troubleshooting with me....

Next up Patch is gonna help me make it work without an APC40!!

Thank you, obviously with the APC40 having so many controls it presents a bit of a challenge but here's what you'd need....

8 buttons for choosing the track
8 buttons for effecting the track chosen (clip stop buttons)
2 buttons for Bank and Quantize
6 Buttons for Scene Select (adds another 6 effects to the track chosen as well)
1 x 8 automap knobs.....
3 banks x 8 mappable knobs....

I'm gonna try and do it with a nanokontrol by adjusting the settings using the editor, this way i've got the 2 lines of 8 buttons for the rack select and effect select sorted plus the bank and quantize as the buttons on the ninth fader....

there's 4 banks of knobs for the Track & Device control emulation of the APC40, it'll have to be used with value scaling pick up though which is no bad thing.....

The 6 transport type buttons can then be mapped to the scene select and stop all clips button functionality of the APC40...

All in all for £50 the nanokontrol has most things i'd need, the only functionality it's going to be missing is the control of the Activator/Solo/Rec buttons for which to do properly you'd need 3 buttons x each track you have an isotonik on (i'm running six with serato running into tracks 7 and 8.....

I'll create a tsi file and upload it when i'm done as well....

Cheers
