Rishi's Launchpad Presets

Post by rishi » Wed Jun 16, 2010 10:53 am

When I am away from home I like to take a portable setup so I can still geek out with Ableton. I have programmed some new presets into the Launchpad to give me maximum usage of this little device.

The Session and Mixer pages remain unchanged.

User1 Preset:
Drum Racks
- Advanced Drum Rack Control of all 128 slots
- 2x drum pad modes (visible pads + 4 bank gig mode)
- Velocity Control
- Midi Feedback

Midi keyboard
- Octave switcher
- Pitch bend
- Modulation
- Sustain
Image

User2 Preset:
Now has 5 sub-pages

a) Navigation and Control
- Top row navigate and grab mp3 or .als from iTunes
- Browse, select load from Ableton browser
- Zoom +/-
- BPM adjust
- Pitch Bend
- View Options
- Copy, Paste, Dupe, Delete, Undo, Redo
- Transport Controls
Image

b) 2 CH DJ Mixer
- 2 CH Dj mixer layout
- 3 band EQ's with LED feedback for visual reference of current setting
- Bass Kill with visual reference
- Volume faders with visual feedback
- FX Control Wet/Dry and Kill
- FX switcher color coded for 4x FX
- 8 Momentary FX pads
- Start Stop clip selected scene
- Navigation
- Clip View zoom in/out
Image

c) Assignable Midi Controls
- 4x 8 step faders with feedback (can be used as a 8 step selector too)
- 4x on/off swithces with feedback
- 4x color coded switches
- 4x wet/dry sliders with kill button
Image

d) Device Control Page
- Control devices just like the APC40 device control
- Navigate tracks and devices
- Adjust parameters
- 3x speed settings for parameter adjustment
- Buttons to set at 0,64 or 127
- Bank reset button to reset racks to 0 on all 8 parameters
- Color coded instant feedback of 8 parameters
- Selected parameter displays 8 step LED meter
Image

e) Letter Page
- Display any letter on the 8x8 grid
- Plays in time with music
- Can also output the corresponding letter sound from the Texas Instruments SPeak'n'Spell

Probably should be making music instead doing midi programming...

Is anything needed besides stock Ableton and a Launchpad to do all this?
MacBook Pro (MacOS 13.0.1) i9 Processor, 32gb RAM, 4tb SSD
(STUDIO I/O) MOTU UltraLite mk5 (w/ADA8200), (LIVE I/O) Behringer X Air XR18
Ableton Live Suite 11 (Live performances), Studio One 5 (Studio Stem Creation)

Very impressive indeed. Getting a launchpad soon, but just going to trigger clips with it. Although wouldn't mind making it flash to the music

Can Max for Live achieve this?

(STUDIO I/O) MOTU UltraLite mk5 (w/ADA8200), (LIVE I/O) Behringer X Air XR18

We've fallen into the same trap... but's that's excellent work you've done there rishi! Glad to see that you've been able to pull it all together for the Launchpad.

Best,

Hanz

Nice work! I half-implemented a letter page myself, but never finished it, nevermind all this other stuff!

Yeah its a trap. Still a long way to go for me with remote scripts. I will be going back to your articles

I may do, but I would need to package it up and that would mean upgrading from Bomes Pro to Bomes Author which is EUR200+!!

and if you give us the bome-script and the user remote script?
this would make the packaging with the author-version obsolete
I use bome too for some little extras, and i even don't have the pro version (i live with the 10sec wait-screen)
:D
If you're not planing to make a commercial release out of your script, it would be mad cool if you'd load it up somewhere.

cheers

This level of functionality looks awesome! Does anyone know if the same result for the drumrack access and keyboard can be achieved with Katapult?

Looks interesting, are you going to upload the remote scripts somewhere so we can all have a play around with your hard work?
