Alejandro-Lady Gaga Remix: Dubstepish/Electro Ballad
So I cant help but dig this chick's voice, at least in this song. A little different style than I am used to, but as always, comments, criticisms, and complaints are always welcome. I especially appreciate mixing/leveling advice as my listening scenario is pretty minimal.
The vocals were stripped from an mp3 so there are some transients in there, which are clearly audible. I also kept the vox a tad lower than normal to eliminate this a little bit, but I think you will get the idea.
Anyways, enjoy and thanks for the listens

Funny that you posted this today, as i was messing around with a Lady Gaga song earlier. Anyways sounds pretty good to me so far, my girlfriend would love it. How are u extracting the vocals? ive messed with audacity trying to do just that, doesn't work very well. I also have this VST Extraboy which works decently, but have never got it perfect. Have you?

I actually didn't extract these vocals myself, but I can tell you that it was most likely done the instrumental/phase extraction method, and then probably filtered to remove some of the unnecessary frequencies. You can do this in Live with the utility plug in and a little practice although results vary widely song to song and it will never be perfect.
Thanks for the listen though!

Hey Dave. Don't we all wish we had a great singer at our disposal. One major problem is the pumping from the kick. If you're using side chaining on an sub/aux/master.... it's not good. With every kick it seems the volume is attenuated for everything including the vox which should never be the target for side chainging unless you are going for an effect such as rhythmic gating. With that exception, this is a great track.

The arrangement is really really good, but the mix needs some attention. Liek the trance plucks around 3:00.

Yea, still working on getting a transparent mix....practice practice practice. Thanks for the advice, I will check out that spot and try to smooth it out a little.som wrote:The arrangement is really really good, but the mix needs some attention. Liek the trance plucks around 3:00.
