Skinnerbox sbx 2049 drummachine

Nice drummachine! I like the many different settings/parameters it offers for each drum sound. Very refreshing. As a new M4L owner this is a nice suprise.

A downside is that on my Q9650 quad 3GHz a single instance consumes 15% cpu. While doing nothing! Is this common for max (4 life) devices? Or is it a coding issue?

Anyway, thanks Abes

Great tool...any future plans to allow drum samples to be hot swapped?

Nearly maxes out my i7 960 processor @ 3.2Ghz!

Is there another forum where the max4life users discuss plugins? It's a bit quiet around here and this drummachine has raised some questions for me.

Like i want to know why it uses so much cpu even when it's not doing anything. Neither the devs or Abes respond here. So where do i go?

this device is rad.

one thing - when i use device controls on my APC40 bass drum volume and tom 1 volume are reversed. i.e. device control 1 controls tom 1 and device control 2 controls bass drum.

also, can someone write extra patch for MFL that makes this work with the APC40 so that i can control XOX step sequencer with clip launch + stop clip buttons on APC40? - thanks!

Really liking this device, sounds fantastic. Well thought out w/ some nice innovations and a clean, helpful layout/GUI that makes good use of the window- we need more of this in Live itself. I hadn't noticed the CPU, have to check it out. Thanks Skinnerbox, great work & thanks for sharing!

Quick question; Is it necessary with all that math objects and complicated patching to achieve this kind of noisy fm percussive sounds? I expected to see a much more basic set of objects under the hood, do you recomend to study this patch for learning cool ways of FM synthesis?

That's a good question. I'm tempted to say yes, it's got to be very mathy.

This is a great tool, thanks hugely for sharing.

I wish there were some way to isolate Max LFOs from the undo history, as soon as you start using any of them in this you completely lose the ability to undo anything, I really love the lfos on this too.

Sbx did you see my post too? Is the cpu usage normal at about 15% for a quad 3GHz?

@peez, yes it is, there are several reasons for the high cpu consumption, but the main one is the usage of the lowest vector-size possible with in some poly objects that are responsible for some feedback engines....

I see. The lowest vector-size, is that to counter latency?
