Ozzilator - Meltdown (electronic disco)

Hi guys,

I started this track in an attempt to improve my synth-making skills, and I ended up actually finishing it! It's pretty laid back and easy to digest... I guess you could call it a disco tune. It's called Meltdown because it is too hot to do anything around here at the moment =)

All the synths are Analog patches and the drums are Operator patches. No VST's in there whatsoever... I tried giving this track a bit of 'depth' instead of compressing/distorting the hell out of it, did that work out?

The most interesting thing I found is to have two patches for the kick drum. One subby with a fair bit of decay (~200ms), and one REALLY short (~10ms) that has a huge pitch envelope. This creates a really solid kick that is both snappy and deep and I think it sounds great! It's also very nice to tweak (as the punch and sub are seperate elements). I'll post the rack on the tips and tricks forum if anyone is interested...

Nice track.
Good production and the synth work is good. Personally I would give the kick drum a bit more volume.

Thanks for the feedback, the kick is pretty loud but really short. Maybe I should give it a little bit more body by adding some more decay.

Any more feedback? What kind of situation would you listen to this? I think it's a nice tune for a walk in the park

I love hearing examples that use Ableton only. Hearing good ones always reminds me how far I still have to go. This one was really good. Cheers

hey, like the track, how did you set the sub kick, without any pitch envelope? Using resonance in the filter perhaps could give it some more punch in the 200-500 hz area. I`ll check that kick myself as I was searching a way to control the sub and knock,
