The Oxe installer does not copy the VST DLL to the VST folder. So I had to copy the DLL manually to the VST folder. Unfortunately the VST crashes Live 8.1 ("A serious program error has occurred") when I try to load it. So the VST is unuseable with Live.

I checked out the patch using the stand-alone version. The "Lately Bass" sound is the same as TX81Z, though.

Mods can you confirm there was an operator preset for the Lately (Solid) Bass?

I'm gonna try to build the Solid Bass patch from TX81z in operator.

Here are the settings:

Algorithm=3 (linear 3-op 3->2->1 with 4 linked directly to 1)
Feedback=6
LFO wave=triangle
LFO speed=23
LFO delay=9
PMD=25
AMD=42
sync=on
PMS=5
Amp mod sensitivity=0 (for all operators)
EG Bias op1=2, op2=0, op3=4, op4=0
Key Vel Sens=0
Osc freq ratio: op1=0.5, op2=4, op3=1, op4=1
detune: op1=0, op2=0, op3=-3, op4=0

Env1 AR=31, D1R=1, D1L=9, D2R=0, RR=6
Env2 AR=9, D1R=5, D1L=0, D2R=9, RR=8
Env3 AR=31, D1R=17, D1L=4, D2R=22, RR=6
Env4 AR=15, D1R=10, D1L=10, D2R=8, RR=5
(NOTE - Parameters go from 0min->31max with all envelopes)

Op out level 1=99, 2=75, 3=89, 4=85 (0-100 this time)
Keyboard scaling:Rate
Op1=1, Op2=1, Op3=1, Op4=1
Keyboard scaling:level
Op1=0, Op2=0, Op3=0, Op4=70

** Env parameters only range from 0-31, whereas others range from 0-99

I think I've asked this before but I'm too lazy to 'search n' bump.' Has anyone been able to reproduce the TX81Z Lately Bass patch in Operator, or knows how to begin programing it? I lost my TX a while back. Or even, does anyone know of a free FM VST that may have a similar patch or that can load SysEx, or maybe there's a FXP file for it that can be downloaded?

Thanks in advance

Yes but I'm not telling.

the lately bass isn't that complicated to program on Operator (won't be exactly the same, but close) as Operator's interface is much better than 80's yamaha gear.

If you really want authenticity, look for a used tx81z on craigslist. I got mine for 50$ (Canadian).

I had to get one, but it is not that portable :( Yes I'm lazy. Anyway, I just found a neat TX editor with a nice graphic interface at http://the-all.org/tx81z/programmer.html. I bet I will be able to come close to reproducing Lately Bass in Operator using this editor as a visual guide.

I have a Yamaha Motif with a PLG150DX Expansion board that has the "Lately Bass" patch. Was meaning to sample it for use with NI Kontakt a few months ago. Might have some time this week to do it. Lemme know if you would like to get a copy.

I'm on Live 7. Open up Operator, one of the prest folders is "synth", inside is "bass", (Accu Bass, Big Bottom, Disco etc) and there it is, Lately (solid) bass.

Hmmm, I'd forgotten just what a nice low-end Operator has. Maybe I should sell everything else and actually learn to use the fker.
