Re: Komplete 7 near release
I got a new Guitar Center flier over the weekend and they're already advertising Komplete 6 as coming with a free upgrade to Komplete 7.
iMac, Ableton Suite 8, NI Komplete 7, NI Maschine, NI Kore 2, Reason 5, Arturia V-Collection, Akai APC40, Novation SL49 MKII, Akai MPK88, NI Audio Kontrol 1

Re: Komplete 7 near release
I wouldn't return the bundle, Kore 3 will most likely be just a software update. Kore hardware is pretty solid really, the only improvement that makes sense is to double the knobs or add a keyboard x/y pad, not anything major. What makes the most sense really is a huge rectangular Kaos pad type x/y pad for warping performance presets as an add on, not in the same case!
The hardware is definitely worth keeping IMO, and I still think there's a good chance to get K7 if you just bought K6. Persistence is key.

Re: Komplete 7 near release
no major updates. doesn`t look interesting to me as a k5 user

I just realized what a tweaker relationship godsend Reaktor could be.Machinesworking wrote:I dunno dating otherwise healthy over sexed crazed meth heads is similar to riding the NI train I think!
Come for the sex. Stay for the Reaktor.
Re: Komplete 7 near release
Sort of annoying, since I have bought a couple of the sound libraries which are now included. But most of the NI libraries are really, really good. I love the Finger!

Re: Komplete 7 near release
So I'm ditching my original order (K6 + kore2 soft/hardware = 677 euro)
Instead I'm taking part in their "Upgrade from Reaktor, Kontakt or Kore" offer ... for 285 euro
To add to the sweetness, I'm upgrading from an educational reaktor license which I couldn't sell due to edu-license limitations - so I moved it to my netbook (A while back I sold any NI licenses I had that would be included in Komplete) I got that license for peanuts, when dollars were toilet paper (dollars are still toilet paper, but euros are now too... just the nicer variety of toilet paper. the scented kind that has aloe vera in it)
So the K7 upgrade I receive will not be limited in anyway like an edu-license is (edu can only be installed on one machine, and you can't re-sell it) and I don't have to install it on the same machine as the license I'm upgrading from. Reasonable, and very much appreciated.
So ya I'm rambling but what I'm getting to here is the incredible value for money I've gotten from NI through the last few yrs.
I believe Kore & Reaktor are the only NI instruments waiting for the 64bit treatment, so I'm holding out on kore until it goes 64.

You can get Kore for 329 euro, I would. Depends on how much you love Racks, I never made friends with Racks the way some people did.dum wrote:So I'm ditching my original order (K6 + kore2 soft/hardware = 677 euro)

No real ability to switch between instruments on the fly without all instruments being active and taking CPU cycles etc.
On the fly preset browsing like hardware is a HUGE plus IMO.
That still puts you under 677 euro, and since you're all gay for the euro...
Re: Komplete 7 near release
oh ya, I know the maths are still good. And don't forget that 50 euro voucher included in K7...
But I was doing research over the past few days and I'm going to hold out on kore... 64bit is around the corner. I can feels it.
All said it worked out quite nicely

Won't be a hardware upgrade though. I know my upgrade to Kore 2 was ridiculously decently priced, like $59 or something?dum wrote:oh ya, I know the maths are still good. And don't forget that 50 euro voucher included in K7...

NI will probably do what they always do though and have a sale on the hardware right before they release a 64 bit version.
Also, I don't think the dual core imacs are capable of 64 bit if that's what you're planning on using. My 2.4 core 2 duo doesn't qualify for instance.
Though I have so many plug ins that will need upgrades that I'm not thinking 64 bit any time within the next couple years even.
Re: Komplete 7 near release
Ya, I won't benefit from the 64bit implementation. But, knowing that it's looming means an update is looming. Even if it's just a software update, I am bound by common sense to wait & see.

Re: Komplete 7 near release
Just for fun, my guess is it's over a year before Kore goes 64 bit. No sense in Kore being 64 bit until all NI plug ins are, so far only Kontakt is.dum wrote:Ya, I won't benefit from the 64bit implementation. But, knowing that it's looming means an update is looming. If past low level code changes to plug ins are any indication it could be over a year. OSX, Intel and AU all were brutally slow in porting for Absynth etc.

Anywho - 64bit isn't the issue. I smell an update, that's all. And I figure it will be 64bit. And I figure it will be released a month or so after komplete7 is available...then after the hype of Kore 3 just about settles, there will be the winter sale with ~50% off Komplete7 upgrades along with some other promos.native instruments re: compatability wrote:Special notes regarding 64-bit versions of Logic and Mainstage
Both KONTAKT 4.1 and MASCHINE 1.5 operate in native 64 bit mode when launched stand-alone or as a plug-in in 64 bit hosts.
However, other Native Instruments products are not yet available in 64-bit AudioUnit format, and are also not fully compatible with the 32-Bit AudioUnit bridge of the latest Logic and Mainstage versions.
It is therefore recommended for users of those NI products to use the 32-bit mode of Logic 9.1 and Mainstage 2.1.
Native Instruments is planning to release 64-bit AudioUnit versions of all relevant products over the course of this year.
Or I'll be damned.

You're dammed, I don't know how many times the OSX version of Absynth got held back. They initially said three months. about 1 year and a half later it came out.dum wrote: Anywho - 64bit isn't the issue. I smell an update, that's all. And I figure it will be 64bit. Though I don't think you're wrong at all about Kore 3. NI will probably at least give 64 bit compatibility away in an update if you buy Kore 3, it's what they did with Kontakt 3.
Kore, FM8, Battery, and Massive are due for upgrades. And I wouldn't be surprised if 6 months from now Reactor gets upgraded to 6.

The first OSX version of Absynth came out when Absynth 2 was first released- that was 2003. It and Reaktor were the first NI apps with OSX versions if I remember.
Now, if you're talking IntelMac, that's a different story.
