64bit support would be a great addition, working with a 32bit program is limiting.
starting to wish i never bought ableton now :(

I don't think Live9 should be released for sometime! Out of respect for all the Live 8 users getting a stable version after such a long time! Give it until late 2011 at the earliest

- More return chains in drum racks (limit is 6)
- The ability to send a drum rack chain while muting the dry signal, the only way to get around this is to use a return chain with a utility, when it could be used for some other useful effect.
- Return chains in instrument and audio FX racks.
- The ability to individually select clips in arrange view, right now you can either select one or use block select. It's impossible to select every other clip for example.
- The ability to set how many macros are available
- Less CPU usage
- Coffee machine integration

1) x64 version as I'm having to maintain two VST libraries - one for Studio One, Cubase, Reaper (x64) and one for Live (x86).

2) Fully Skinnable like Reaper (so I can do strange things like have the background to wave clips fade from one colour to another) - quite random I know! (I know there are utils to do this today but not to the level that I'm thinking of and also not supported by Ableton)

3) >2 channels (for example 5.1 + 7.1) as producers are asking more and more for this capability from the DAW in the studio

4) OMF support for import and export

Cheers, Simmo

Is this a joke, or are you asking for 64bit

I thought POW-R dithering was the bees knees.

I want an intelligent fast intuitive way to render audio loops directly into the session and arrangement, that can be programmed, and replaces the audiofiles each time I run the arrangement. Something similar to recording into the msp buffer Ram, but instead written to disc, so I can directly move the aiff files around and edit them.
I dont know exactly how this should work though :)

Clip based automation and fast access to a library with automation clips.

Automation vector snap to grid

Max in Live without loading-time ,latency and dropouts. With Collision, Tension and Analog they managed to kind of put Tassman in Live, So hopefully Max in current "rewire with latency state" is work in progress

Something like this implemented in sampler : http://www.image-line.com/documents/directwave.html
Would be damn easy, load a heavy CPU consuming vst, freeze it and have all samples from it in chromatic order.
HUGE CPU SAVER.

- Tabbed sets like in photoshop, easily switch between two or more sets.

- Have a clip in session view represent a whole arrangement view project, double click it to edit it.

I realize that both of these would take quite a bit of cpu, but maybe live should utilize more than 4gb ram?

1. I would like to see SUPER macro racks. You could choose 8 16 or 32 knobs. It has 3 assignable LFOs with sin, tri, sq, noise, random, etc. Each LFO has a range slider like in M4L. The SUPER MACRO also stores up to 127 presets (kind of like "snaps" in Reaktor) that can be recalled via Program change on clips, or CC, or pitch from a keyboard.
These SUPER MACRO ideas should be applied to Instrument Racks, FX Racks, Drum Racks, Operator, Analogue, etc. I am amazed Ableton has never implemented the idea of storing and recalling presets. Hotswapping in not preset recall.

2.I would also like to see something like s4racen's "sm4rt knob" idea implemented as a modulation device, or an option in the SUPER MACROS. The ability to take one knob and assign it to multiple knobs with the ability to draw bezier curves to the modulation for each knob.

3.Group Solo Isolation option. Only solo tracks within grouped tracks if desired.

4. Did any one say "bezier curves?" We should be able to change the response curve on any parameter.

5. Comb Flt.

-ability to render and merge multiple audio clips into one. (to simplify sample heavy live sets)
-dual screen setup... with clip view on one side, and session view in the other!
-freezing audio that is side-chained
-assign the audio level of a channel to automate any knob
-retrig time-based effects on any channel's midi notes
-envelopper effect
-64bit support
