A good dubby delay recommendations

Currently I use a ping pong delay as my main send delay in Live 8 but can anyone recommend another good delay within Live (with setting suggestions) or VST plugin (for Mac) to emulate the gritty sound of a Roland RE-201 space echo.

I use Tal-Dub-II and Tal-Dub-III. Both free and do the trick for me.

Getting UAD-2 with the Roland Space Echo plugin is the best sounding - but most expensive option.

For a reasonable price, Audio Damage's Dubstation is something I recommend.

GSI-201 is pretty good. I like it better than dubstation. I think they are having a sale now, it's $12 Euro ($20 US?)

I suggest mess around in Ableton Live before you start spending money on other plugins. There are so many options to make nice delays that do similar stuff like Space Echo in Live itself!

It's all in Live and very easy to build. I still use this rack for some delay messing every now and then...

If you do want to spend money on plugins and want some raw, crazy !@#$ delay, get Ohmforce Ohmboys! Very extreme delay feedback settings and some nice build in distortions and filters.

But if you want a simpler solution, I heartily recommend Bionic Delay for that Jamaican studio flavour.

I'd like to get one of those crappy noise making keyrings the DJ's used to play over the sound systems at blues parties back in the 1980's.

The Tal Dub Siren's always sounded too complex compared to those nasty cheap 8 bit beeps from back in the day...

I am not sure if you know...Christian Kleine did a Livepack with Multitap Delayracks(50) and a tutorial...you can do everything with Abletons devices...not need to buy stuff. Go to extendlive.com and find delays heaven.

But if you like to spent..well...the UAD Spaceecho and Fabfilters Timeless2 are excellent

GSI-201 is excellent, & that's a really good deal.

Another one that's great is AnalogDelay by Smart Electromix. Plus it's donation ware.

They are each full of character & can really be played like an instrument. Both GSI-201 & AnalogDelay run on Mac & PC.

Plenty of good recommendations here. Echo Boy is great, but almost as expensive as the UAD-2 plus RE201 !

If you got the budget, go large but some of this cheaper and freeware/shareware works really well too.
