I'm trying to use both an Akai APC40 with an Akai MPD24 with Live 8.1.4 on a windows XP machine going directly into the USB ports on the laptop (not a hub). When I connect only the APC40 (without the MPD24) the APC40 works fine and shows the red clip launch box and automapping to clips and controls. But when I connect the MPD24 and start Live it doesn't properly recognize the APC40 and doesn't show the red clip launch box nor automapping. I do get midi signals from both the APC and MPD as live shows the green midi light, but again the APC doesn't show the red clip launch box nor to the controls automap.
I feel like there must be a midi channel conflict. I read that the APC40 uses midi channels 1-8 (appears to be the case when I manually midi map controls), so I tried changing the CommonChannel on the MPD24 to 16, but that didn't help.
Anyone know if a special configuration needed when connecting the APC40 with other midi controllers? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

APC40 doesn't work when MPD24 connected
Re: [SOLVED] APC40 doesn't work when MPD24 connected
ahhh, got it figured out. I tried all the Midi/Sync Input and Output ports and found that I needed to select "USB Audio Device (2)" for the APC and it now works.
