If it's a software instrument, then you can use Track Freeze to freeze it. Then use OPT-drag to drag the frozen clip to an audio track and you'll have an audio version of it as a clip.

If it's an external MIDI track (being sent to a hardware sound module) then create an audio track and record the clip you would any audio.

Another thing you can do is to render the MIDI track that contains the clip. You can either disable all the other clips or else snip the clip you need out of the rendered file afterwards. SHIFT-CMD-R on mac...

U can also freeze a track and then select the flatten command.

That's the way.
Also u can Export Audio/Video from the File menu and choose the apropriate track.

I did try exporting audio/video and selecting the track but the resulting audio file was silent. I have no problems exporting 'Audio' tracks into audio.

Yes it's a midi track with 'Drum Rack' on it. I played in some percussive samples as a midi clip and would now like to just render that midi clip to audio so i can use it in logic.

Thanks

Thanks, that has been a very useuful video, i appreciate the link.

Is there a way where you can export the midi clip as audio without having to freeze the midi clip to audio first?

Thanks for the help people!

Why do you not want to freeze it? It is the simplist way to turn midi clips into audio clips.

Thanks for your help and advice, i have sussed it now, i think the easiest way for me is to just record into an empty click slot on an audio track with the input set to the midi track i want to record.

Thanks for you help guys.

You could always set a dedicated Resampling channel by setting the input to resampling.

This means you could arm that channel and it'll record the DAW mix, soloing the wanted channel would record that one alone.

ER, unless I am mistaken you can just do this.

In session view hit stop all clips, trigger the clips you want to play in the loop, press stop, then press record and dial in the length of the loop. Job done
