Drum Racks Utilizing Warp/Time Stretch
Re: Drum Racks Utilizing Warp/Time Stretch
I posted about this in the bug forum, http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=108887(technically a different issue, but still part of the same problem), but got moved to feature wishlist. The current wording is wrong when you choose to slice with warp markers, because it doesn't actually use the warp markers.
I'm thinking: 'Slice to midi track' using 'Clip as instrument'.
This would recreate the clip in the midi track (so it would not be linked to the original clip).
So maybe that should be the feature wish, 'use audio clip as instrument'?
So you would slice within the track itself, assign the slices to drum pads/rack, or whatever you needed to do. But essentially whatever is happening in the clip, directly controls the sound.

A question to Albeton headquarters
Whilst it is good to see what us users have to say on this subject, it would be much more worthwhile were we given some thoughts on the subject from Ableton Headquarters.
So here goes:
Ableton....what are your plans for integrating time stretching procedures into both Simpler and Sampler?
Your instruments are incredibly powerful but still there is some way to go before they work as we would like them to.
I know Aumary reads and answers many of these posts, so would appreciate it if he could find an answer for us.

bump
I think this would be a killer feature. Let's get everyone on this.

Re: Drum Racks Utilizing Warp/Time Stretch
First off, I'll give this a general +1.
Now a workaround at the moment would be to render your warped track and then slice it up right? But the problem with that is, it not only wastes a lot of time/space/effort/etc., but then you won't be able to change the tempo on the fly later and still have the slices fit the (new) tempo? Can someone tell me I understand what we're talking about here.

Nop that is not correct...Tempo would do just fine..Eloheim wrote:but then you won't be able to change the tempo on the fly later and still have the slices fit the (new) tempo?
The problem is that when you want to combine a drum rack performance and trigger looping-let's say with a drum pad- you can't sync a cells tempo with the tempo of the project. The only workaround is to place the specific loop by it's own to a new track and trigger it from there..bummer!

Re: Drum Racks Utilizing Warp/Time Stretch
+1 would be the most important advantage suggested in these forums, for me at least.
Re: Drum Racks Utilizing Warp/Time Stretch
It ain't right, Ableton is suppose to instigate creativity not hinder it, the lack of this feature is unacceptable.
Re: Drum Racks Utilizing Warp/Time Stretch
It's such a shame this has not been added to ableton.

Cool to see y'all are into it as well.. I too have been asking around for stuff like this..
(warping is such a cool feature that it should be available whereever there are audio files involved)
