The vote is exclusively for genre fascist fucktards. If this is you, then vote away, the chance to win a nice full, pearl necklace from the OP, lovingly extracted from his own scrotum, is difficult to pass up.

How about you make it a real challenge and require them to mix all the genres in one set...

+1

and the barred vs. allowed genres doesn't even make sense!

banning all dance except drum and bass?
and Trip-Hop? did that ever exist, or was it just some dumb term coined by journalists to define the Bristol scene in the 90's?

experimental is allowed, but not noise? where do you draw the line?

and don't get me started on the whole "ethnic / world" thing, it's so condescending I don't even know where to begin.

I think I explained it wrong. Portishead was indeed pretty cool, but wtf is trip-hop? as far as I know, the term was invented to describe Tricky and Massive Attack's music, but these people were simply claiming to do hip-hop at the time.
I guess at that time it was impossible to imagine people could do hiphop differently.
In 2010 would you call Roots Manuva or MF Doom trip-hop? or just plain weird fucked up hiphop?

IMHO, people just do the music they do and journalists try to categorize them.
Just like about 5 years ago when the trance scene was influenced by minimal techno (James Holden, etc..) and some tried to call that Neo-Trance or some bullshit like that.

pointing out all the fail on this board would wear out quite a few keyboards.
