Load a live set without touching computer?
Load a live set without touching computer?
Hi! I was wondering if somebody found a way to load a new live set with only a controller becuase I'd like to stay away from the computer as much as possible! And yes I know that you can have a few songs in the same set, but this is not what I am looking for!
Thank you so much!

First question is, do you have any Novation hardware?
Some comes with Automap PRO which lets implement key commands.
After that, there are other programs out there that allow you to do the same.
One of my favorites is using a game controller+software

Wow! looks like there's hope! I want to control Live with an Ipad and an Ipod touch... do you think it could work with an app for these devices?
Thanks!
Thanks!

There is this, I think it costs money.. I don't know if you have to buy both the app AND Automap Pro or not.

The main thing you have to do is see if you are able to open sets using keyboard commands. It has to be something you are capable of doing via keyboard, without ever touching the mouse.
The main thing I'd try is Alt+(left arrow) - This would bring you into the browser. If you leave the browser by default open at a folder that has all your sets you can navigate it with up/down arrows + Enter (you might also have to hit right arrow after, and then enter again for Do you want to save??)
I'm sure that there are also apps that you can do that do not require Automap. That would probably be cheaper, and teach you more flexible options
. I think one uses OSC (Open Sound Control). You'd have to find a program that will convert some of your midi data into keyboard commands.

Thanks again! I'll see what I can do with this app! I'll also give midistroke a try... might be even easier!
Re: Load a live set without touching computer?
You can use the Automator app built into Mac OS X to do this. It's a little daunting at first -- automator can be used to take control of any running app and pretend that it's a user entering keystrokes, mouse clicks etc. There are quite a few examples packaged with it that might help you get started if you decide to go that route.

Re: Load a live set without touching computer?
You can do it with QuicKeys which has MIDI translation built-in, so you can map a MIDI control to keystrokes, menu items, automator/applescript scripts...etc.
Re: Load a live set without touching computer?
Thanks guys! lot of good ideas! I'll work on that in the next few days! But it would be so much easier if Ableton add this fonction... I am probably not the only one that would use this fonction right?
