when you guys quit having friendly fantasies I wonder if someone could explain why something digital wouldn't sound just like something analog... how about you friend_kami?

im not syaing that something digital cant sound just like something analog, i am saying that amp sounds typically digital.
bring out a fuzz pedal and hook up to your amp, then dial in a fuzz in amp and youll see what im talking about.

im pretty sure that you can get incredibly fine tones with amp in conjunction with other stuff, but for amp beeing so accessible (as was the big speech about the controls anyways) its incredibly hard to get any good gain sounds. try getting a good metal type sound that still retains a good mixture between presence, attack and gain, it will end up sounding like you run it through the overdrive set to 100% too much. the clean tones sounds great, but once you bring up the gain and you want to get your distortion on things gets a bit worse.

This is completely unrelated to the sound Amp produces (which I'm a bit underwhelmed by) but the lack of a tuner is pretty annoying. I appreciate the plugin is designed to be as simple as possible but I can't see how you can record a guitar without tuning up precisely first.

I can't deny it would be handy, but it would need an off switch to save on CPU, and doesn't every guitarist already have a tuner anyway?

well, every mac-owner has garage-band, but still you prefer use live, isn't it?

A tuner plugin would be handy because you would be able to use it immedeately, without unplugging the guitar or opening 3rdparty-software. this can make a difference.

Yeah, agreed. I'm a big fan of Amp, but I'm finding the lack of a tuner is annoying.

I think the guys at Ableton are wonderful programmers and keyboard musicians, but I really don't think they are guitarists (as of yet)....... but give them a couple of years and Amplitube and Guitar Rig may have some competition.....!!!!!

Meanwhile, I'd be happy it the spacebar were made visible as a control for footswitch input....

Well, ok, AND a guitar (instrument) tuner.........

They've needed to add a tuner plugin for years, Amp or no Amp.

For all Hi-Gainers and Garbage lovers who are not satisfied with amp...

did you tried the overdrive to create garbage??

I´m not a guitarist but 5 mins ago I tried it on a synth and... there comes out awesome garbage

may try /amp/overdrive/cabinet or overdrive/amp/cabinet

The cool thing about techno still, comparing it to most jazz is the improvisation coupled with raw energy.
