Apogee One input not working in 8.2

Post by koilon71 » Fri Sep 24, 2010 9:19 am

Anybody using the Apogee One with Live 8.2 has the same problem? Live 8.2 refuses to recognize its input.
Killing preferences & repair permissions didn't work (I'm on Mac OS 10.6.4).

Thanks
Lars

Have you installed Maestro? (it should have come bundled with your One as a disc.)

I had trouble with the One + Ableton at first, and the only thing that solved the problem was installing Maestro. I found that stand-alone Ableton would not "see" my mic through the One about 75% of the time, and the rest of the time I got terrible sound and crackling. As soon as I installed the Maestro software that comes with the One, and use it to monitor, the functionality was perfect.

Hope this helps!

What the hell :? !!! Live 8.2 failed to recognize the inputs on my Apogee One too. I do indeed have Maestro installed. Is there a workaround that can be done before the next update?

Great to hear I'm not the only one with this problem. I contacted Ableton support yesterday - let's see what they come up with.

I'm having the exact problem: 8.2 won't recognize the inputs of my Apogee One. Get a move on it Ableton!!!!!

As a temporary workaround before Ableton fixes this bug, we can use the JACK audioserver http://www.jackosx.com

Install Jack.
In JACK preferences, choose ONE as input & output device. Set buffer size to 256.
In Live preferences, choose JackRouter as input & output device.

You might wanna test it at least.

Better workaround:

From Ableton Support:

Hello,

a temporary workaround for 8.2 users with the Apogee "One" interface (or any other single-input devices) is to create an aggregate device and group it with the built-in soundcard.

Important: you need to make the Apogee interface the first item in the aggregate device list. In this case, Live will still only find 1 stereo input, but channel 1 is the Apogee and channel 2 is the left channel of the built-in input. The right channel of the built-in input is ignored.

We'll release a bug fix update asap.

It's almost a month since I first mailed them about this (it started with the 8.1.6 betas) and I actually suggested that the issue could be caused by the One being a single input device. I told them it worked with other hosts, bla bla.

They told me the problem was Amplitube 3 and Novation's Automap...

To cut a long story short, three weeks and several mails from me later (a couple of them unanswered) I'm at the point where I've reinstalled my entire computer from scratch. Then they have the courtesy of telling me they've found that it's a bug with Live, that's already been fixed (!) but for some reason not released.

And now I see in this thread that there's actually a workaround, albeit a clumsy one.

And still no fix.

Let's see, L8 was released like, a year and a half ago...?!

I'm sorry if I sound pissed off, but that's because I am. :?

This is really starting to frustrate me. I went back to 8.1.3 to use my One, and now I can't create new audio clips in either version. MIDI clips are fine, just audio. And this never happened without the One.
