Can you create stop points in songs in Live?
Can you create stop points in songs in Live?
I currently have a song in Live where in the middle of the song the tempo slows down and live is no longer needed for a few bars. I would like this part to be independent of the live bpm. After these bars are up, the song continues onward using the original tempo. Can I setup the song to automatically stop in the mid section and then have my drummer hit play using a midi trigger when we are ready to start the next part?

Paul

Would it work for your needs if you midi-mapped a cue point where you want the track to stop, as well as the stop button? This way your drummer could stop the track with one midi trigger and then play from the mapped cue point when the drummer hits the second midi trigger?

Yeah, that sounds perfect! I didn't know you could make cue-points. I'm assuming this is explained in the help document? (I'm at work so I can't check it out right now)

You could also stop it (without a touch) using Follow Actions. Then, restart with a MIDI trigger.

I tried using follow actions and couldn't figure it out. Can someone please explain how to do this? Thank you very much

Anyone have any other ideas on how to do this (besides follow actions)???
I have a show in 2 weeks and need to figure this out!

OK, I found it. Live calls what we're talking about "locators." Search the manual for that and you'll find how to set, label, and remove them. You can also MIDI map to them. It's on page 76 in my copy of the manual.
