Behringer gear...whaddya think?....
Ok, getting real for a moment here...there seems to be a stigma with Behringer gear as "cheap crap", but I've honestly been Jonesing for one of those FCA202 Firewire audio interfaces for my notebook. I mean for 85 bills, how bad could it be?
What are your opinions about Behringer gear? Anyone use any of their stuff and have any comments?

The only good thing they ever put out was the feedback killer.Poop_Smear wrote:Ok, getting real for a moment here...there seems to be a stigma with Behringer gear as "cheap crap", but I've honestly been Jonesing for one of those FCA202 Firewire audio interfaces for my notebook. I have quite a few bits of Behringer stuff, never had a problem with any of it, my old MX26-4-2 mixer runs all day and has done for over 10 years.

Not a fan of their stuff myself. Lots of people use their kit and get on fine with it. If I was going to test those waters it would not be with my audio interface.

when you buy a Be*ringer product, there's a 50/50% chance of it:
working forever
or
breaking within the first month.
and if it does break you have to send it back to Germany, which from previous experience can take 6 months!

I've got one of those behringer mini mixers, it sounds like a refrigerator.

That's fairly true, however, i've only ever had the headphones (HPX2000) break on me and the deal is that they come with a 2 yr warranty and the shop you bought them from will offer you a brand new set if you show them the receipt and give them the broken pair....so it's not a bad experience at all.abletoon wrote:when you buy a Be*ringer product, there's a 50/50% chance of it:

I've also got a UMA25S controller/audio interface and whilst the keyboard is pretty crap, the rest of it is very useable.
Behringer were given a bad name because they copied products and sold them at a fraction of the price but that goes to show the inflated prices and subsequent greed of the major musical equipment manufacturers.
More power to Behringer says I.

I've got two of the Xenyx ones and they're pretty good.flippo wrote:I've got one of those behringer mini mixers, it sounds like a refrigerator.

Seeing 'getting real' questions about gear in the Lounge is bad enough, but coming from an entity designated as "Poop_Smear"...?
This is beyond the pale.

if your looking for budget gear, i'd go for Tapco stuff rather than be*ringer any day.
although the Tapco stuff isn't amazing, it tends to be a lot more reliable in comparison
