not able to rework on old songs in old versions
Have just send an email to support:
I have a very serious error. When I open this project (I zipped it for you):
http://melodiefabriek.nl/audio/zip/Peper.zip
I want to work on this file but when I save it I get a message like
"can' open file", so the file can't be saved!! This is because it was
created in an old version of Live.
I need to be able to open old files or else upgrading would not make sense.
-- PLEASE fix! I need to work on this song and now I can't

Re: SERIOUS BUG: not able to rework on old songs in old versions

Re: SERIOUS BUG: not able to rework on old songs in old versions
yes OPENING does work but SAVE not
Re: SERIOUS BUG: not able to rework on old songs in old versions
Hello,
I can´t reproduce this with your set, opens fine and can be re-saved as well
- can you use "save as" and save with a new name?
Best,
Christian

Re: SERIOUS BUG: not able to rework on old songs in old versions
I found the bug:
if you save it in the same folder als the orginal file under a new name, so like peper2.als it shows the error message. If you save it to a different folder that error doesn't show up.
So I found the workaround, but it's still a bug.

what info do you need?ShelLuser wrote:raapie wrote:I found the bug:
You're not exactly giving us much information to work with
I am using 8.2.1 OSX and this song was created probably on Live 6 on PC.
I have done repair disk permissions on OSX. The .ini file in the same folder can be openend and saved. This Live-file simply can't be saved in the Paper Project folder. I get this error message when I try t do that:
As you can see, that error message is also strange. The file isn't even saved so when should it say it can't be opened?
By the way where is Ableton's official support? Have send an email but haven't recieved feedback yet. User support is ofcourse great, but I expect Ableton to jump in as well, since it's their product.

Hi Marco, where did you send your email? Also, Christian did earlier chime in on this thread that he was unable to reproduce, and asked for more information.

It seems that the Project folder was put on 'locked'. Only that folder, nothing else. The files where stored on a removable harddrive with XP and later copied to OSX.
Feel like a stupid Dutchman though... file locked, it's so simple
Sorry Ableton. Not serious. Not even a bug!
My mistake.
Free beers for you all!
Cheers!
