EMU ESI4000 hardware sampler for drums or bass

hi ,

does anyone uses EMU samplers, especially EMU ESi4000?

ive heard that due to its internal filters and converters , it sounds punchy when using it on bass / or drums programming?

i just got one, but i still have to wait to buy SCSI CD ROM for it to load samples into it.

what do you think about using hardware samplers nowadays?

and may be some suggestions where to get may be share sample libraries for EMU? especially with basses and drums

I don't understand what makes them better than softsamplers running on good laptops with good soundcards. I understand the appeal of one box production machines like the MPC.I suppose you're buying the filter sound and characteristic ad da converters. Kontakt 4 is roughly £350 from digital village.

I used to have the E 6400 with a MPC 3000. I now use an Emu SP 1200 with a MPC 5000. Theres a "who still uses hardware thread" around here somewhere. Lots of love for those Emu samplers. I dont think I ever heard anybody ever saying it sounded awful. I never really experimented with drums on the e6400 because most my drum sounds were in the MPC 3000 at the time. I did use it for basslines with good results. Why the esi 4000 instead of the e series? There cheap these days.

The more these software companies make emulations of gear, the more I want the real thing.

i got esi 4000 for just 50 euro locally. thats why i got it and its in perfect shape. as new.
the guy who used it switched on software, and im hardware lover all my way up ... i know that using hardware samplers is bit time consuming, but i like to feel and touch real instruments rather than mouse clicking and midi controller knob twidling
and i think that hardware sampler sounds more organic , even with best quality samples loaded into - they will sound better.

mt way is to use it on basslines .may be drums...
