Here's an interesting question. Will Ableton continue to sell Live 7 to 8 download after live 9 is announced?
From past experience the free upgrade to 9 will be the download version. I see no point in paying extra for the Live 8 manual especially if eventually 9 stabilizes at the normal pre 8 rate of about six months.

So:
At this point Live 7 to 8 download version is super cheap, $139, $50 savings.

You don't buy it and all you can buy is the boxed version to get the upgrade then it's $90 more for the download version of Live 9 = $59 dollar savings if they keep to last upgrades routine and sell the download for $149 for the first month or so.

if most likely you can get the download version off their site and still qualify for a free upgrade to Live 9, then it's $50 more for Live 9 or a $99 savings.

It's essentially, if you're going for download versions a +/- $100 risk.

Also, the 25% savings at least for me does not give the same percentage savings to suite, they aren't going 25% on the Suite, it's -$50 accross the line boxed, suite or download.

The discount on M4L leads me to believe that they will be including it with Live 9 Suite or at least some sort of M4L runtime. Any thoughts on that? That would definitely be worth the upgrade price I would think.

Not really, I wish I would of jumped sooner and upgraded while they were giving away a partner instrument.

...yes indeed. **THERE WILL BE NO LIVE 9**. There will be Live MX (like Live Max Extended). Or something like that.
The OMINOUS TOTAL REWRITE. 64Bit of course, and the M4L runtime will be included, and will be used for all what is missing now, Panel-Sets, a proper Preset-System and much more

At least, thats what I think

Indeed. Maybe we'll even see Live Pentium.

Better not be until Live's multithreading is extremely good and there are 64 core 16GHz CPUs available as you will need them to do anything heavy with M4L.
Nothing to see here - move along!

How sad am I; I dreamt I was being demoed L9 last night! It was 64bit, and you could open multiple sets at once. It had other things that seemed to excite me a bit, but like most dreams I can't remember what exactly! It seemed to help me finish off songs and not procrastinate too. Yeah, right, obviously not a premonition then! A plugin that tells me off for fiddling too much, and makes me actually practice instruments instead of poking with knobs and effects for hours to try to polish a dodgy part!?!
Live relevant things: Suite 12, MacBook M1 Max, RME UFX II (kext drivers), Push 1

If your right, I would seriously like to see the licensing agreement they dreamt up.

I don’t think your idea would be possible without one company consuming the other.

Hi, to clarify a couple things:

There will not be any announcement or preview of Live 9 at the IRCAM forum. There's some misinformation somewhere, but Live 9 will not be part of this.

Live 9 will come in the future, but we cannot, at the moment, give a timeframe or feature preview for it. The Get In Tune With Winter sale is not intended to get rid of Live 8 and make way for Live 9 - it is a holiday promotion.

Yeah, I was going to say, why would the first mention of Live 9 come from the press release for a year-old broadcast of a crossover plugin that specifically refers to Live 8 in the video?
