meh. Another article in which someone thinks HTML5 is going to save the day.
When and if HTML5 ever crawls up from the basement of the 5 geeks who have been working on it, it will be exactly 1.5 seconds later when someone will create a popup ad script that will beat any popup blocker - not unlike some of the more robust standard HTML ads that still break through.

adblock+ ftw. adblockfree on firefox and chrome since firefox 1.0.
i just hope html5 ads will be blockable just as easy, else, i'd say, html5 ads are fucking up MY internet.
other than that, html5 is quite awesome. i enjoy working with it. definitely the best time for developing html yet. html5, css3, javascript are quite a cool team nowadays. i never cared about flash. the only thing i did was, once, an animated banner for an event. i found out how to fade text+images, so it was just quite simple. but, thanks to that, not that annoying as other ads.

It's not the fact that there is ads. It's the fact that the format of the ads are fucking up the site and user experience.
I don't have a frequent problem on my home computer except when I hit up some video sites it sometimes never gets to loading the video and it's stuck loading some bullshit flash ad. On my work computer which is extremely handicapped by IT I'll go to some news content site and it will take FOREVER to load the page, and none of what is lagging is actual news content. I'll watch the little loading dialogue box in the bottom left corner of IE and it will be a never ending parade of loading.ad.bullshit…..Done…..loading.ad.morebullshit….Done…loading…. Half the time it will just freeze up the browser.
I don't have problems with ads because I know they generate revenue for the site, but it shouldn't be at the cost of making your experience complete crap.

Since soooo many ads are Flash based, Flashblocker + Firefox has improved my browsing experience immensely.
