Why can't you extract groove templates from cumbia tracks?

just looking to experiment with similar tempos/grooves... i have some cumbia music but nothing with straight drum loops to extract for grooves. anyone got drumbreaks from cumbia records? old or new "hipster" or not just concerning tempo/speeds/rhythm

I still go to downtown San Jose once every couple months and buy old latin records for sampling purposes.

I use recycle to convert them to rex. If you want I'll upload some of the stuff (short 1 or 2 bar loops) later tonight.

Here's 10 or so rex files... 7 are cumbia 3 are random latin that I happen to have on my laptop at the moment.
While listening to some of the files I noticed that a lot of the groove and vibe from cumbia or almost any latin style seems to come from the negative space, and interplay between rhythm and melody. Don't know if just percussion is get capture the groove.

The core of the cumbia is the ch-k-chk-guiro and a conga-slap on the 2 and the 4. The strange groove results from the fact that the conga slaps are actually a bit before the 2 and the 4.

At least that's what I found out when dissecting some Cumbia Villera trash I bought in Buenos Aires.
