howto control an au instrument with max4live

i've an au instrument (waldorf largo) and want to control p.e. the filter cutoff with an max4live lfo. generaly speaking how to control the parameters in an instrument wit max4live. any tut'S or desripctions?

first i have to make a empty m4l patch window and then drag and drop the vst into it?

i am complete new to m4l and searching for a tutorial wich shows the exact way to archieve this!

i want p.e. to controll the cutoff filter (from the vst) with a lfo (from m4l) how can i do this?

Yeah he wrote that a little strangely (tired Shel?). The part he's talking about is all done in Live. Live 8 introduced the ability to order the parameters of an AU/VST any way you want in Live's device lane. So after you drag the AU to a track you will see the Live device that represents the AU. In the top left is an arrow that expands the device's parameter configuration panel. Click the "Configure" button and the AU's interface window will open and the Live device panel will now show instructions that tell you to click on parameters in the AU interface to add them to the Live device panel. Once the parameters you want to control are added they can be altered through automation, MIDI or keystroke mapped, and they can also be affected by processes in M4L.

Now, how you specifically affect the parameters with M4L is a whole other subject. There's tons of ways you could do it. If you want an LFO device search for one on www.maxforlive.com. Then it could just be a matter of altering the existing device so that it affects the specific parameters you want.
