That makes me think, I will be using Premiere Pro and after Effects which both utilisy CUDA and/or the GPU for useful stuff, like rendering my art. Wouldn't it be better to use the basic theme with all the slides and onther nonsense off and keep it OFF the GPU? It's a theoretical question. Not too worry I am a power user and for sure after a couple of months I will be squeezing every last drop of performance out of it. WIN 7 does work very well, definitely the best Windoze ever.

not really, as long as nothing moves, the gpu is inactive (for windows). and it's all vsynced and just some windows, so you would not notice any performance "stealing" from the os. not that the os-gpu part ever touches the components used by cuda/openCL at all, anyways => you'd prefer to use a bit of gpu and have the cpu free for those apps (cuda runs on cpu, too).

and yeah, it's about the best windows yet. i right now prefer windows phone 7, that one is awesome (much more future-style).

we'll see! by the way CUDA doe NOT run on the CPU it is a hardware/software platform that runs on NVIDIA hardware.

The Google Chrome logo is an eyesore too - looks to much like the Win flag. Other than that, Google kicks ass.

From the Adobe site "troubleshooting"
9. Disable Windows Aero (Windows 7 and Vista).
Aero is a hardware-based graphical user interface in Windows 7 and Vista. It is intended to offer more advanced features, including transparency and animations, than in the standard interface. See Disable Windows Aero (Windows 7 and Vista) (kb404886).
