OT - rackmountable power conditioners GEAR LUST CONTINUES...

Post by DJ Precious » Wed May 25, 2005 8:26 pm

It's time. I'm finally going to buy a rackable power conditioner once and for all. A few questions remain...

1) Is it worth it to buy one of the fancy Furmans with the blinky lights? Or should I just get the $40 jobby?

2) That said, is there any other companies that have better stuff than Furman at the same price? [I'm not spending more than $280 on the thing]

note: I'm not plugging in any 20amp gear, just the DAW. Oh yeah...

3) Say I just buy one fancy Furman, would it be bad if I plugged other nonessential gear into normal outlets (for example, I plug the printer and the wall wart for the Korg keyboard I use only to trigger midi into a normal wall socket)?

thanks

you're best off buying a backup battery/ power supply/ conditioner
first, in my opinion.
that way you have time to shut off systems before crash
and data loss, should voltage be interrupted.
lights and meters are nice if you need them on the furmans, etc.

i would cheackout the Furman webpage before you do anything. Even emailed them of any questions that you so desire. Im almost assured you will get an eyeopener of useful information.

Somthing like that, it has rack ears you can mount on it, search around and you'll probably find what you need.
