I asked Mediamonkey, it told me it's been Belladonna by Daniel Lanois

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs. Took a few listens to get into, actually kinda hated it at first but then oh my, what a record. Life/art/music affirming. Apart from being sonically gorgeous, in a dusty, sepia toned kind of way, the thing that's most surprising about it is the subject matter. A concept album that easily could have been pretentious but it worked. Songs about things people in their late 20's through thirties actually think about. Meanwhile the music is alternately breezy then stormy, wistful then ecstatic. From the cool neighborhood bar to the ernest community garden, the kids ain't alright. In fact they aren't even kids anymore but maybe that's the victory, just having grown up.

Didn't even know I needed a less histrionic, aging hipster Springsteen, but it sure came in handy this year.

Didn't Fever Ray come out in 2009? That's my favorite record of the last few years, amazing live show also.

Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me is fantastic. Many years ago a friend took me to see her play at a dinner theatre type venue where you were sat at a table, real classy like. I'd never heard her music and it was mind blowing. Her harp playing was incredible, she can make that thing talk. It was like seeing an angel sing, just spellbinding. Such a cool way to be introduced to someone's music.

Looking forward to checking out these picks guys, lots of stuff I haven't heard yet. Thanks.

Ostgut Ton - fünf

I found the concept super interesting - the artists heavily relied on field recordings they did in the Berghain building and you can really feel it if you visited Berghain and know the location. Some of the tracks arent what i would consider "home-listening" compatible but there are several great tracks on that compilation that i really like.

Caribou "Swim", Mount Kimbie, Teebs, Bonobo "Black Sands", 5 years of Hyperdub and for some reason I have had the entire Cinematic Orchestra back catalog on repeat for the past month :)

I really expected to be saying Darkstar "North" based on how much I love their singles but that record really didn't do it for me.
