My first attempt at Dubstep..

Post by DJVATERS » Tue Dec 21, 2010 3:27 am

Not even sure if this could be classified as "dubstep" ... but i have been listening to alot of Skrillex and built my own bass sounds using abletons operator - this is a rough mix and mostly just an experiment to see what i could do with my bass sound. i hope you dig it, and would love to hear some thoughts.

All the bass was done in operator? Pretty cool.

Care to explain how you made the bass??

PS - To clarify, I could probably figure out how to make a harsh bass with a slow attack, I'm more asking for details about the Datsikeqsue sounds you have on it where it goes from slow draw out womps to real short fast ones.

it was actually pretty simple, i stole some ideas from this video..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqddxI841_k

and then thickened up the sound using the stacking technique in this video..

midi mapped the macro controlls to rate and ammount, and then i mapped the macro controlls to the knobs on my M-Audio Axiom. I hope this helps! and i hope you dig the sounds! :)

pretty cool, bass didn't seem that special for me, but i think it was working well here, it was well done i guess is what i am saying, just not suuuper interesting for me. I think the rythym you got with it was nice to, that kind of slow evolving wob. cool work

btw those clicks and things were suuuper loud and distracting when i listened, might want to look at where those sit in the mix, but overall nice work.
