Ableton Beginner Question - Play Live Automation

Short Question:
I wanted to know, whether it's possible to start a produced track and play the recorded instruments (vst-plugins, in this case massive by native instruments) live, while the actual, previously recorded clip is muted! I have some automation on several vst-plugins clips and i want to use this automation while playing live...
Is there a solution?

I dont understand the question. You want to play something thats recorded but mute what's recorded?

I think I get what you are saying.

Can you create a new midi track and copy your Synth/ Sampler across to this ready to play live. Then map the mute buttons of both tracks to the same midi button, but with one inverted, so that the button effectively actives one track whilst deactivating the other. Then you can punch in the synth when you want to play it live and punch it out when you want the pre-recorded track to take over (and you have a swig on your beer

maybe my question sounded more difficult than it actually was... i just wanted to use the automation on that track live - so i created a blank midi-track only with the synth and the automation - but the thing with mapping the mute buttons to the same midi button is also a nice trick...
