Saw the whole thing..

Dont know.. The few parts with Henke was nice! But the drama between the married creators of the documentary did realy took the focus away: While being behind the camera, taping her husband, she discovered who she really was merried too... In the end they devorsed. :( They only interviewed a handfull of artists that I didnt know anyway. Best bit was walking and talking techno history with Henke in Berlin.

Instead, check out the book: "What kind of house party is this?" by Jonathan Fleming. (1995) Full of pictures! ;)

I totally agree with your critique. The drama did distract. Still, I found it fun to watch.

I'm enjoying this for the most part.

Could someone from Germany tell me whether people there still refer to what used to be the DDR as "East Germany"? Isn't all "Germany" now (Deutschland, to be more accurate)?

Your question is quite tricky: "East Germany" or "West Germany" have always been used to refer to the two republics, and as such they are still (but less frequently) used. People are still talking of "(The) East/West", but that has shifted to a more geographical use. When talking about the area formerly covered by GDR you usually say "New federal states" ("Neue Bundesländer").

Thanks for that reply. I was in Germany in 1986 (and even went to some clubs in Berlin), but not since. I was trying to get a sense of exactly what you described.
