Yep - those are the angle mounts that they sell for the breakfast bar extensions in the kitchen department. I wondered if anyone would notice them - They made a pretty cool solution for getting the speakers up, more isolated and angled for about twenty bucks.
Got a couple of 3" hard felt disks from home depot between the desk and the lower mount, a rubber pad between the top mount and the shelf, the speakers floating on 4 small silicone bumpers. I can swivel them to widen the image for general listening or random jamming.
I used them for the back shelf too. In fact, I think I'm gonna stick one on the back of my guitar pedal rack for the axiom.

Thanks man. I'm building a TV stand for our living room and wanted to use the Alesis M1's I have for that. Those will work perfect.

Interesting setup 3Phase!
I see a lot of stuff I don't recognize
What is the thing on the left side of your desktop w/ the sliders?
What kind of monitors are those?
Are you still using the Akai S-950 (or whatever model around then)?
Out of curiosity, what kind of music do you make?

the speakers are mo stern ones .. a small berlin company.. basicaly a transportable speaker that goes down to 20 hz but on very low level only... like headphones you dont have on the heads... and the slider thing is a roland cmu 810.. a bit like an sh 101 without keyboard and a thiner but more elegant sound..
