thispatcher window commands
thispatcher window commands
is there a way to use these to resize the device?
Have a panel that is very necessary, but takes up a decent amount of space when not in use. I hide/show it perfectly well with thispatcher, but can't reclaim the space.
(popup would be a bit clumsy)

Re: thispatcher window commands
I am in the middle of trying to do this too. I found http://cycling74.com/forums/topic.php?id=29942 but that only appears to work in edit mode, not presentation mode.
Will let you know if I find a way. Please do the same if you find one

Re: thispatcher window commands
I'm getting the feeling that the device width can't be changed once you've saved the device. In the "User Interfaces in Max for Live" help page, under "Using a Dynamic Device Width" it says:
"While your Max for Live device patcher window is open for editing, choose Clear Device Width from the View Menu. The next time you save the device, the width in Live will be determined by the contents of your patcher."
Have experimented with moving a live.line using sendbox presentation_rect … It moves but the device doesn't change size.
Hopefully I'm overlooking something. Could someone from Abelton / C74 say if this is possible or not?

Re: thispatcher window commands
Just thinking if you *could* do this someone would have made a device that hooked up device width to an envelope follower by now
Re: thispatcher window commands
to be clear, you can have a popout. i have done this already.
I send "window size x y (current_width - width_of_myObject) 169, window exec, script hide myObject" to a [thispatcher] and myObject hides but the space just sits there empty.

no dice, eh?
Re: thispatcher window commands
No you cannot modify the device width on the fly.
Lots of things are set in stone when the device loads.
You should still be able to have fun with stuff which isn't related to the device or parameters though, like object positions and stuff
