Well I don't know, I just get the feeling that they stretched themselves a bit thin with Live 8. They tried to take on alot at the same time. In addition to lots of good enhancements, they also had Max for Live, Serato integration, the share thing they were trying. It's rare for ableton to go 2 years between major releases but I think they're doing exactly what people want, which is make it as stable as possible before putting another new version.

Just recently I could not open a project which worked with no problems. Why, please??
Someone has to remind them that they got something to do, cause they received money from us 2 years ago and things still don't work as they should, remember that?

I'm still getting crashes on a 2009 iMac...not a ton but every other week or so it happens. Super lame. I've become a chronic "command + s" addict. And yes, I've sent in my last three crash reports.

I can't see me ever using this program in a professional environment where clients are present

if ableton came out when ableton 8 came out and said live 8 is crash prone then i could understand your statement... but they did not... i feel if an individual purchase "something" with their hard earned monies that "something" should work as advertised...

how many of these buff their ass threads have to be made on the forum? do you think they all stopped programming for a minute looked at this thread and then stared out the window reflecting on their lives, the ups the downs, the success, the failures... do you think they are somehow going to be inspired to change what it is they were doing an hour ago, before this thread?

I just wish that ALL the daw companies would get together and agree on some standard open (xml + zip?) file/project format (which of course would be a superset of supported features), so that you could then easily choose to use each DAW for the parts of the job its best at.

So, if you want to do your creative bit in Live, which mostly works very well, but then mix down in something else , then the transfer process would become a whole load easier rather than being forced to bounce the audio and loose the ability to tweak or manually recreate everything.

Yeh - we know rewire - but its completely f****** useless for this as cant use most plugins when Live is a slave.

The point - if you have problems with Live (bugs, quirks, missing features like full PDC, workflow better elsewhere for that stage etc), then you transfer to weapon of choice and finish the job there - of course such a process might only work with 3rd party plugins, but it would certainly solve a hell of alot of problems that result in the many variations of these kind of threads.

I thought the original problem with 8, in a way, was that their programmers weren't slow enough! I'm all for them taking their time. If you are having issues contact Tech Support. Whenever I have used them to help with my issues they have been extremely helpful.

I seriously don't get all this talk about Live 8, because it has been nearly bug free for me for the last year.

The tempo can be changed in a little box on the top left hand corner.

You can speed it up to 999 bpm. You should find that fast enough.

how stable can software really be?
this is still software its going to crash for some people. i imagine it will be a couple more decades before software becomes as reliable as hardware.

i guess what im trying to say is, what do people expect?
this is never going to be 100 percent stable.

right now live is the most stable that it has ever been. i think its time for ableton to move on with live 9 already.
if they want to keep releasing updates to previous versions after live 9 then thats cool but, lets see some long requested features be added while we are relatively young.
