Recommendation for Win 7 x64 Sound card ?

Post by pluggy » Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:33 pm

Hi,

I'm looking for a internal sound card or external sound interface with the following features:

- Runs stable with Live 8 on Windows 7 x64
- Latency <=10 ms
- Has input suitable for a Guitar and a Microphone (not necessarily at the same time)
- Price <= 130 EUR

I've already tried the following (with little success):

- Tascam 144 (crappy driver, causing 20% cpu load while computer is idle due to interrupt conflicts)
- M-Audio Fast Track USB (loud high-pitched buzzing noise when playing any sound if I connect my active speakers to it. Crappy hardware?)
- Tascam Fireone (great interface, but is not supported in Windows 7 x64 at all)

So this is getting quite frustrating.

For my next attempt I was thinking about an infrasonic quartet or an ESI Juli. Has anyone tried using those with Live 8 on Win 7 x64?

Or does anyone have any better recommendations?

Thanks,

Adrian

Looks like a nice interface, but way over my budget.

I've had good luck with my old Echo Mia MIDI card. It doesn't have the features you want but Echo makes other fancier devices with lots more inputs and outputs. Most importantly they keep updating their drivers even for old hardware and supported Win7 64bit from the start.
